Where heritage meets innovation - that's not just our tagline, it's literally how we started.
Back in 2012, I was working on my first major restoration project - a Victorian-era house in Cabbagetown that everyone said was too far gone. The owner wanted to gut it and start fresh, but something about those original crown moldings and that hand-laid brick just wouldn't let me give up on it.
Spent three months researching period-accurate techniques, tracking down artisans who still knew the old ways, and yeah... probably drove the client a bit crazy with my obsession over getting every detail right. But when we finished? That building told its story again.
That's when it clicked for me. Architecture isn't about choosing between old and new - it's about understanding what makes a space meaningful and building on that. Sometimes that means restoring a 150-year-old facade. Sometimes it means designing something completely modern that still respects the neighborhood's character.
Fast forward to today, we've grown into a team of designers, restorers, and planners who all share that same appreciation for buildings that matter. We've worked on everything from heritage homes to cutting-edge residential projects across the GTA, and honestly? We're still learning something new on every single one.
Pretty simple, really - we design spaces that last.
Every building sits somewhere. It's got neighbors, history, a vibe. We don't just drop designs into places - we figure out what belongs there. That might mean matching century-old brickwork or creating something bold that still fits the street. Context matters.
Look, trends come and go faster than Toronto weather changes. What we care about is solid craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Whether we're restoring original plasterwork or speccing out modern materials, it's gotta be done right. No shortcuts, no "good enough."
We'll tell you straight up if an idea won't work, but we'll also push back when we think there's a better way. Best projects happen when clients and architects actually talk to each other like humans. We ask questions, you ask questions, and we figure it out together.
Whether it's a heritage restoration or a new build, we design for longevity. That means sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and spaces that'll still make sense in twenty years. Buildings are investments - might as well make 'em good ones.
The people who actually do the work
Principal Architect & Founder
Started this whole thing after that Cabbagetown project I mentioned. Got my degree from Waterloo, spent a few years at a corporate firm learning what I didn't want to do, then took the leap.
These days I'm usually buried in heritage restoration projects or sketching out residential designs. Still get way too excited about original architectural details. Outside work? You'll find me cycling the waterfront or hunting down Toronto's best coffee.
Senior Architect
Joined us in 2016 after working on some major commercial projects downtown. She's our go-to for sustainable design and basically knows everything about green building standards. Also makes the best dim sum recommendations.
Design Lead
The creative powerhouse behind most of our residential projects. Marcus has this uncanny ability to see potential in awkward spaces. Trained in both architecture and interior design, which means he thinks about how spaces actually work, not just how they look.
Heritage Specialist
Elena's background in historical preservation is pretty much invaluable. She's got connections with every traditional craftsperson in the province and can date a building by looking at the nail heads. Seriously. It's impressive and slightly terrifying.
Urban Planning Consultant
James handles the big-picture stuff - zoning, municipal relations, urban design strategy. He's the reason our projects actually get approved. Former city planner who jumped ship to the private side, bringing all that inside knowledge with him.
Junior Architect
Newest addition to the team and already making waves. Fresh perspective, killer technical skills, and doesn't let us get stuck in "we've always done it this way" thinking. Currently working towards her OAA license.
Operations Manager
The one who actually keeps this place running. While we're obsessing over window details, Catherine's making sure projects stay on schedule, clients stay happy, and we remember to pay our bills. Basically, she's the real boss.
Honestly, this city's got everything an architect could want. You've got Victorian rowhouses sitting next to modern condos, industrial buildings becoming loft spaces, neighborhoods with real character and history.
The GTA's also in this interesting moment where people are starting to appreciate older buildings again instead of just tearing everything down. That shift? That's exactly what we're about.
Plus, the coffee's good, the clients are engaged, and there's always another interesting project around the corner. Can't ask for much more than that.
Whether it's restoring a heritage gem or designing your dream home from scratch, let's talk about it over coffee.
